Project CARE (Community Action and Resource Empowerment)
Exactly a year ago, I started a project as a part of my responsibilities as an intern at Mindstix Foundation Trust. Project CARE (Community Action and Resource Empowerment) is a student-based project aimed towards facilitating welfare policies of the central government to grassroots through campaigns and mass awareness drives across housing societies and labour-driven organisations. The project primarily serves unorganised labour and aims to ensure the availability of healthcare, social security and pension benefits to secure their future. With the enthusiastic participation of a few of my high school batchmates and my colleagues at Mindstix, I am very proud to announce that today we have registered approximately 4200 people ranging from different occupations like sewage workers, house-help, maintenance workers, etc under 2 government schemes related to social security and healthcare, the benefits of which are summarised below:
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission: Under the Ayushman Bharat Healthcare Abhiyan of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. which enables access to all medical information like tests, diagnoses, medicine prescriptions, etc, with just a few clicks. The scheme helps the beneficiaries in sharing medical records easily with hospitals, clinics, doctors, etc. Thus, enabling medical care even in new localities. Moreover, the scheme also enables access to the Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR) which is a compilation of the details of all the doctors and the Health Facility Registry (HFR) which is a list of all the government and private medical facilities. This card is valid in AYUSH treatment facilities and includes Ayurvedic, Yogic, Naturopathic, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathic treatments. Obtaining an ABHA card can significantly improve access to medical care. It helps in finding health centres and medical professionals and also shares your medical records seamlessly with doctors.
E-Shram Social Security Pension Schemes of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI Government of India: Individuals working in an unorganised sector can apply for an E-Shramik Card or E-Shram card. Individuals working in the unorganised sectors will get E-Shram card benefits like a pension of Rs. 3000 /- per month after 60 years of age, death insurance of Rs. 2 lakhs, and financial aid of Rs. 1 lakh in the case of partial handicap of a worker.
After 3 campaigns across Thane, I would like to thank the residents and secretariats of Tarangan CHS and Lodha Amara CHS for their cooperation and for letting us carry out this project and make an impact on society. I would also like to thank bhatu sawant for letting us register his entire workforce at Samarth Bharat Vyaspeeth, working at the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Water Sewage Treatment Plant where 60 women employed at the plant were registered under the ABHA scheme.
